56 Punches in Two Minutes

On October 3, 2017, an 86 year-old assisted living facility resident was severely beaten by a fellow resident on a secured unit of a Williston, Florida A.L.F. The beating of the resident was captured on video surveillance. The problem: No one was actually monitoring the video surveillance at the time of the attack. The Agency for Health Care Administration also reported that “language barriers” prevented the staff from communicating with the residents, and that the facility staff lacked training and adequate leadership.
