Nursing Home Employees Honored for Grace Under Pressure

In February of this year, Ottawa, Illinois was hit with a devastating tornado. Caught in the tornado’s path was La Salle County Nursing Home and its 91 residents. During the storm, the employees followed their disaster protocol, and moved residents into the hallways, where they sung to them, and told them jokes to keep the residents calm. No resident was injured, despite damaged sustained to windows and the roof. Employees stayed well after midnight until all residents were safely transported to secure facilities. The facility recently re-opened after renovations. Kudos to these folks who went above and beyond in a time of crisis to protect our loved ones.
