A Georgia couple, Julie and Douglas Mittleider, along with the companies and nonprofit foundation they control, have agreed to pay $1.25 million to settle allegations that they provided “effectively worthless services” at the nursing homes they ran, but collected money from Medicaid and Medicare anyways.  Nursing homes run by this couple in Mississippi featured roaches, ants, and snakes.  When a C.N.A. attempted to assess a resident complaining of leg pain, she pulled by the bed sheet, and a snake jumped out at her.  You can read the details of this story here: http://www.myajc.com/news/publ...
